The black-tailed rattlesnake(crotalus molossus) is native to mountainous areas in the sonoran desert which ranges from Arizona, U.S.A., to Sonora, Mexico. It looks similar to the western diamond-back rattlesnake, which also lives in the same area, but is more common and has more potent venom.
CHARACTERISTICS
This rattler is greenish to grayish in color with light-centered crossbands down its back, its tail is also black right before the rattle which gives it its name. This snake will grow from 70-125 cm.(28-50 in.) long. It is nocturnal and considered to be non-aggressive, though it is still deadly venomous.
